Road accident: 11 dead as jeep falls into ravine near Chitral

CHITRAL: Eleven people were killed and four others injured when a jeep fell into a ravine near Chitral, Express News reported on Saturday.

Rescue operations are underway and the injured were taken to District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

The jeep fell into a ravine by a main road at Gokhir village, 70 kilometers from Chitral. According to initial reports, there were 18 people in the jeep at the time of the accident.

Three of the passengers reportedly jumped out of the jeep before the crash and survived.

@Amir: You have seen people riding on roofs of buses? You have seen people riding on roofs of trains? These people needed to get somewhere. And there was no bus service or transportation by the State. It was this or one day walk and chance of freezing.

A sad incident which i myself got lucky escape with this kind of accident last year, May the departed souls rest in peace. Roads should be a little wide in such areas will help reducing such incidents and of course drive carefully..
