Brazen attack: Levies official killed, check post torched

A levies official was gunned down in an attack on a check post on the boundary of Central Kurram Agency and Hangu district on Tuesday morning. Unidentified militants also torched the check post following the attack, said a political administration official from the area.


The official said militants had stormed the check post in Kandhi Talab area and killed Zahoor, adding that a heavy contingent of levies rushed to the spot and surrounded the area soon after. However, no one was arrested till the filing of this report in the consequent search operation.

Another official said the check post was unmanned at night and that is when militants came and hid in wait. They gunned down Zahoor as soon as he reached the spot for his duty, after which they torched the check post and fled.
