Precautionary measures: Memon directs officials to fix CCTV cameras

Memon warned he would pay surprise visits to different areas of metropolis to oversee implementation of his orders.

“Please repair and replace out-of-order cameras and non-functional street lights, otherwise I will take action against those responsible for them,” Memon.

KARACHI:

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, who also holds the portfolio for local government, has directed the KMC administrator to reactivate all cameras, currently lying non-functional, in order to effectively monitor street crime.

He issued these directives at a meeting with all municipal commissioners of Karachi at his office on Saturday.

“Please repair and replace out-of-order cameras and non-functional street lights, otherwise I will take action against those responsible for them,” he said.

The minister also directed the officials to clean the garbage from the streets, remove accumulated sewage and de-silt the choked sewage drains immediately. Memon warned that he would pay surprise visits to different areas of the metropolis to oversee the implementation of his orders.
