LAHORE:

An MoU to promote environmental education was signed between the World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan’s Green School Programme and The Bridges School (TBS). The TBS is now a registered Green School, committed to develop environmental awareness among its students.

Speaking on the occasion, WWF-Pakistan Manager Corporate Relations Sania Khan emphasised the need to educate the youth about environmental issues. She said the Green School Programme provided structured environmental education and conducted awareness campaigns, which engage students through skill development and events such as WWF-Pakistan’s Nature Carnival, Earth Hour (an international movement for energy conservation) and the National Arts Competition. Thousands of saplings were planted by students on Earth Day celebrations last year. Students also worked on themes such as “say no to plastic bags” and water conservation. The Green School Programme was launched in 2010.
