VC Karakoram Varsity: Shortlisted candidates’ interviews today

The interviews will be conducted by a seven-member search committee at the Higher Education Commission.

ISLAMABAD:
For the appointment of a new vice-chancellor (VC) of Karakoram International University (KIU), a search committee will interview nine candidates on Thursday (today), who were shortlisted out of 76 applicants. The interviews will be conducted by a seven-member search committee at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) which includes the outgoing VC of KIU, Dr Najma Najam whose term expired in June 2013 but the university senate committee allowed her to work till a replacement could be found. Former VC of Gomal University Professor Dr Akbar Kundi is also among the candidates. The merit list of the shortlisted candidates will be sent to the KIU Senate which will send three names to the chancellor, the president of Pakistan. The president approved the names of HEC Executive Director Dr Mukhtar Ahmad and Dr Shahnaz Wazir Ali, while the names of Prof. Imtiaz, Assitant Prof. Manzoor and Univeristy of Gujrat VC Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin were approved by HEC.
