According to details, Parveen, a resident of Dera Nawab area, was brought to court by the police to record her statements. She had earlier run away with Hashim, her paramour, but was recovered by the police and sent to a Darul Amaan on the directives of a magistrate, after her husband, Niaz, and brother, Yousaf, registered a kidnapping case against Hashim.
Yousaf opened fire at Parveen as she entered the court premises. He was arrested by the police and Parveen was taken to a hospital but died on the way.
Bahawalpur district bar association (DBA) president, Munir Pirzada, called an emergency meeting after the incident. Addressing the meeting Pirzada held the police responsible for the murder.
He said that had the police been more vigilant the tragic incident could have been avoided.
He said that the police officials bringing Parveen to the court should be charged for negligence in performing their duties.
