In an encounter with the police at Masyari in Murree tehsil on Monday, an alleged robber was shot dead and his three accomplices were arrested, according to the police.
The police said that the deceased robber was identified as Muhammad Irfan while the arrested robbers were identified as Zaheer Ahmed, Muhammad Navid and Ishtiaq.
The police also recovered Rs96,000, 75 mobile phones and other valuables from their possessions. SP Saddar Zone, Arif Shahbaz, told The Express Tribune that the robbers on Monday night looted several passenger busses and vans at Jhika Gali and Lower Topa.
Later on Tuesday, a police party intercepted them in Masyari. According to the police, they opened fire on the police party. In retaliation, the police also resorted to firing. SP Shahbaz said that during the exchange of fire, Irfan died on the spot, while three others were arrested. He said that one of the robbers also received bullet injuries.
