PTI leader among four others gunned down near Kasur

In another incident, Lahore police have detained two people in the alleged murder of PTI Lahore women's wing's son.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Maqsood Bhatti was killed along with four other people when their convoy was ambushed near Kasur on Saturday evening, Express News reported.

According to Express News correspondent Noman Sheikh, that Bhatti was travelling along with a lawyer in a second car when they were ambushed on Ferozepur Road, Mustafabad Toll Plaza near Lilliani.

The attackers, believed to be on motorcycles, riddled the two cars with bullets.

Bhatti was travelling in his SUV along with three guards. In the accompanying sedan, two others were killed.

Sheikh said that according to police, the attack seems to be motivated by a personal enmity of Bhatti, who has faced attacks before.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and demanded a report from IG police.

After the incident there was a protest on the road which blocked traffic.

PTI International Media Coordinator Anila Khawaja confirmed on Twitter that Bhatti was killed along with three guards in what she claimed was an ambush.




PTI leader's son murdered in Lahore

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Women's Wing President Neelum Ashraf's son was found dead on Saturday, reported Express News.

According to PTI leader Dr Arif Alvi, Noman Ashraf, 32, was killed in a dacoity attempt on him in Lahore.



Superintendent Police Model Town Tariq Aziz initially contended that Noman may not have been murdered, and could possibly have committed suicide.

However, later he recanted and admitted that the case was of homicide and registered a case and an investigation was launched.

Initial investigations indicated that Noman was in his car and was shot at shortly after visiting a business associate. The business associate and one other suspect have been detained for questioning.
