Condolences pour in for SP CID Chaudhry Aslam on social media

SP CID Chaudhry Aslam was killed in a bomb blast on Thursday.

Soon after news broke that SP CID Chaudhry Aslam was slain in a bomb blast on Thursday, various Pakistani public figures expressed their shock on Twitter.

Many politicians and activists including Pakistan People's Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and human rights activist Alizeh Iqbal Haider recognised Aslam's courage as he took on banned militants and drug-runners in Karachi.

The hashtag #RIPChAslam started to trend and Ch Aslam was the top most trend in Pakistan along with tags such as brave and bravest being used in tweets as the public tweeted about Karachi's 'super cop'.



The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Politicians across various parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf tweeted about the incident.

He was a great brave and fearless police officer. He did his job honestly and with great love for his nation.He knew his fate very well but call of duty made him forget about the consequences. It will take almost a century to recover such a great loss .he will always live in our hearts He has set an example for all of us We can pay tribute to him by following his example by discharging our duties with sincerity and devotion..

INALLIAHI WA INNA ILYHI RAJIOON. Shaheed ki jo moot hai wo koom ki hayat hai. This is a huge loss for Pakistan and we need to keep the moral of our police high. Please thank a police officer the next time you see one in Karachi. This would be a tribute to Ch Aslam.
