A copy of the report has been obtained by Express News.
The report states that one of Musharraf's arteries is blocked and one of his shoulders is not working properly.
The former president has problems in his left knee and spinal cord, and he also suffers from hyper tension, the report further stated.
Earlier today, the medical report was presented to the special court in a sealed envelope by the registrar of the court Abdul Ghani Soomro.
The former president was also given two days of exemption from appearing before the court.
The court had issued an order on January 6 demanding the medical certificate of Musharraf and had also exempted him from appearing before it in person yesterday as he had failed to appear due to ill health.
"Lawyers will also be allowed to see the report," stated Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court (SHC), who is heading the special court.
The former military ruler faces treason charges under Article 6 for suspending, subverting and abrogating the Constitution, imposing an emergency in the country in November 2007 and detaining judges of the superior courts.
“The court has directed that the respondents should be given copies of the medical report,” stated Musharraf’s lawyer Ahmed Raza Kasuri, while talking to the media in Islamabad.
The 70-year-old had fallen ill and rushed to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi on January 2 as he was being transported under heavy guard to the special court.
Musharraf’s medical records were also sent to expert’s in Britain who will decide whether he requires treatment abroad or not.
The former president’s name is currently on the Exit Control List (ECL) and while he can move around freely in Pakistan, he is not permitted to leave the country.

@Uza Syed: "Blinded by Vengeance" Dear Uza, It may have escaped your notice, but President Musharaf has been called to a Court-of-Law in order to answer extremely serious criminal charges. He is fortunate he has been charged in Pakistan. I have lived in several Western countries, and if I had indulged in activities far less serious than those which President Musharrah has been purported to have carried out I would be incarcerated and the relevant authority would have thrown the keys away. However, in view of the fact that President Musharraf brought down an elected government, destroyed or damaged many careers, and ignored or suspended many aspects of the justice system he may well be suffering from delusional grandeur, in addition to the other 9 ailments, and with this mental aberration in mind it may be just as well to drop all charges on the grounds of mental breakdown or incapacity, and request that he leave Pakistan permanently, or confine him to a psychiatric institution..
@Uza Syed: Why don't you first try, as hard as it may be for you, to transcribe your thoughts in a more coherent and articular manner. Try and avoid run on sentences. We can have a discussion then.
@Pakistani Patriot:
all medical reports are supposed to be confidentials but are not treated as classified documents. Anyone who has the access may pass it on to the next by advising the recipient that the info is confidential! You got it.
Rex Minor
@SHS: You sound more like a petty politician of some 'Zilla Council' level than what you claim. If you really are as you claim then some authorities ought to discipline you for unsolicited interference in a treatment regime supervised by another or a team of well qualified medical professionals. Best you can do with yourself is perhaps start some tele-medicine or your practice of cardiology through emails and letters. Believe me this absurdity that you wish selling has lot of takers back in your old country.
CT scan for ca is done only to see if a patient is high risk for CAD (coronary Artery Disease). I live in US and had this done recently. It is not definitive as it only picks up calcium deposists in the cororary artery. There is a scoring system which places the patient in high risk or low risk category. A heart specialst may know more. Anyway, the definitive test is coronary angiogram which will say which arteries are blocked (there are 3 of them that supply heart, LAD being the most important: also called the widow maker!) and to what extent the block is. I do not see a coronary angiogram report.
Musharraf is not paying anything for this medical treatment and the entire burden of this sudden illness and prolong medical treatment & unlimited tests is on the pocket of Pakistani taxpayers. They have the right to know where their money is going! If the medical reports of genital warts of a cricketer can be made public then why can't the reports of a convict of high treason?
This kind of medical report from a prestigious institute does not look nice. Infact makes their credibility doubtful. Suddenly diagnosing 9 diseases out of no where. His name should be in some record book for getting 9 chronic diagnoses suddenly. Lame excuses not to attend court. Poor people who are being told that Musharraf is suffering alot...! All of them sitting n thinking to sit in parliament are making us suffer. Doctors out there must be enjoying this stupid report. I do not understand why he did not get some psychiatric diagnosis!
@Nida Alvi: Listen kiddo, doctors are not only under oath as well as professional conde of conduct not to ever disclose any information regarding their patients medical conditions to anyone other than another medical expert for an opinion or advise. There's something called priviliged communication between a doctor and his patient. If ever any doctor is under any compulsion to issue any information regarding his patients ailments and conditions that is strictly a 'Confidential' communication with expectation that those asking are responsible enough to keep it confidentiallity, which must be kept so. The Special Court has breached this confidence and has proved its sense of specialness which can be construed as loaded with agendas of venegence and partisanship. In due course we would all see the ultimate disgrace historians would attribute to this and all such motivated attempts at persecution in the guise of prosecution. And by the way, how would you like to see something as personal published all over, as the record of your own visits to your gynaecologist and history of whatever issues that you might have had or discussed with her/him. I suspect it won't please you if not down right incite a sense of outrage and feeling of being violated.
All the commentators loudly commenting about "CONFIDENTIAL" are conveniently ignoring the fact that it is an OPEN TRIAL. As a standard operating procedure, hospitals do write such disclaimers on their reports. But this does not compromise their authenticity.
@Rex Minor: "or to be sent in exile, cancelling his citizenship of the adopted country"
Mr. Minor - again one of your many petty and obsessive remarks! Grow up! Get a life!
@Zia: The number one illness Musharraf should list in his medical record is cowardice! He is just another pumped up man who thinks he is above the law when he holds a gun but without it, he is nothing. Musharraf should be forced to face justice for his illegal dictatorship. How can developing countries ever develop if any general with a gun can can take over whenever he wants.
This legal action should not be about a Person or an Institution. It must be viewed as a Test case for the "Rule of. Law". No one is above the law. For now we punish the pickpocket and put him in Jail, and the Tycoons of Bribery are elected Members of Parliament.
@Mohammad: He came to Pakistan because he was misled about his popularity based on virtual popularity. These conditions are not life threatening by any means and can be expected in any 70 year old man. Certainly they are not of the magnitude which would prevent attendance in court.
When video conferencing was permitted in the case of an unsigned and undated memo, surely it can also be permitted in a treason case?
@Last Word: No need for 2nd opinion. This report itself does not show any serious illness which cannot be treated in Pakistan and would require treatment in UK. Nor does it have anything which would prevent him from showing up to the court.
Shameful and condemnable act by the govt. for initiating treason case against the former president and the army chief.
PPP must not forget the memo case which was the real treason case and they were spared.
How "confidential" is this medical report if it is spread all over the news in its entirety? Medical reports should not be given out to anyone let alone journalists.
Over smoking ..70yr old yet no lung issue? :/ Ahan?
The ailments listed are typical of most 70 year old and because of such physical limits such person is incapable of taking stress. This also applies to most pakistani political leadership..Such people tend to gamble, hoping to strike gold but bold decisions require forceful follow up and these leaders are incapable of such hard work..
Pakistan is a unique country where rules, regulations, and law matter not at all. The first word on this report is CONFIDENTIAL. How is it so then that the report was made available to all media and then went public? A confidential report by law cannot be made public without attestation from the author and by removing the "confidential" marking from it.
publishing someones private medical records is a crime punishable by law. so I really hope musharrafs lawyers have seen this.
Is there any reason why the report does not identify the medication the former general took before being sheppered to the court? Also has the patient been given clearance on very simple virus infection causing Herpes Zoster with somewhat similar complaints? The patient requires another physical examination after 48 hours.

@ Fareed : Sir you forgot, Mushi made a deal with Saudi Arabia and pardoned Nawaz in exchange for their support, dollars and oil for the nation. He sold justice for all other people (including himself) who would have been killed for $$$, he should be persecuted for that as well. I am sure you would agree.
Bilawal Bhutto was right about Musharraf.
Somebody needs to evaluate his mental condition too.....That might be where the solution to the problem may be found.......
There is no evidence of any illness. lets get on with the trial. Musharraf violate the constitution and should bear the consequences.
Musharraf did a lot for Pakistan. He uplifted our economy. He fought our war against terrorism. He ruled Pakistan with pomp and show. But it is a fact that he abrogated the constitution of the country.I believe in democracy.Democracy is the only future of the country. Musharraf is having multiple ailments which majority of us develop when aging this much.I think Musharraf deserves every right for the best treatment and Pakistan has a galaxy of most able and competent physicians and surgeons in Pakistan. If it is needed to send him abroad for treatment he should be facilitated, but only for a short time and not permanently and only the trial court should decide it.After all if not an ex president he is a military veteran. We have a regard for it.Now a few of my submissions : 1.Treason case should start from 12 Oct. 1999. 2.The case be against all the colleagues, advisors and cronies of Musharraf. 3.Whenever fit mentally and physically Musharraf must appear in the court personally. 4.Musharraf should face court trial bravely. What ever the result his ordeal will boost up his image in the masses and media. Now times are changed. In the current perspective only democracy will prevail and dominate in the country.Muharraf and his party APML have no future in the country. Those who support him have only vested interests.ET pl let me speak.Thank you.
A man respected globally for his intellectual nature, a brave soldier who returned to his country knowing all dangers, an honest man who hasn't got a single charge of corruption onto himself, this nation dosn't deserve him. They should be left at the mecry of corrupt political regime.
Degrees of Military Doctors and Officials must be verified. In past, Ch, Shujjat Hussain has already questioned Gen.Abdul Majeed Malik's degree of Matriculation. (He was cadidate for COAS)
Does the report saying CONFIDENTIAL at its top and bottom mean anything to anyone anymore... It is known that the report was sent to the court in a sealed envelope then who made it public... Knowing clogged arteries or sub-ideal shoulders or spine issues of a former general does not buy anyone any points... scavenging for news by hook or by crook should also be investigated... Have decency to keep what is deemed confidential, confidential, especially when it has no bearings whether the whole report is made public or not and that goes for the Kangaroo courts as well who are being accessory to this violation of privacy and dissemination of confidential information... yeah ET try publishing this... I have noticed that anything about ET gets pretty much whitewashed... right?
@Nida Alvi: If you believe it was a balloon why doesnt this so called democracy create it for the sake of its countrymen eventually it might benefit the country. Only bring the dollar to 61 and keep it for five years it will be the biggest service to this country which they cant as the corruption has emptied our kitty frankly. Come on learn to live in the real world madam and though i didnt used a single word offensive but saying it seems youre living in a fools paradise more if you cant adjudge on the facts (which I dont wanna write on this forum) and just base your argument on useless rhetoric. Ms Alvi you enjoy your democracy and i hope you have read that from 1982-2007 2.6 mil Pakistanis went for greener pastures abroad which when this so called democracy came from 2008 to 2013 staggering 2.7 mil people left Pakistan for greener pastures/abroad. I think including 2.7 mil Pakistanis alongwith others they arent the one living in fools paradise but the ones who base their arguments safeguarding a despotic democracy based on only empty rhetoric.
The report says "CONFIDENTIAL"
Very Curious...but the Original Report Carries no Date +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Only the Court's registrar has attested with a date.
Musharraf suffers from 9 medical conditions: Report ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 10th condition; Excessive use of hair dye!.
"Conditions include a blocked artery, hyper tension and problems in left knee, spinal cord and shoulder." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dictionary meaning of spine: courage or strength of character So problems in the spine......hmmm.
No privacy laws in pakistan?
May Allah bless you with health and success. I salute your courage and determination to save the country from its hardships. That is absolutely unprecedented.
@Nida Alvi:
The problem of Pakistanis is that they have no brains of their own. They only believe what the corrupt politicians say, they only believe what the corrupt media say, they only believe whatever the rumours are going around. Please Pakistanis use your brain and intelligence and think for your own selves and draw conclusion.
Coward .He should be ashamed.
ET: Pls review thsi medical report to the best Medical Professionals +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ and publish their views on the capacity of such a patient to attend court for a couple of hours.
Am I Correct to Assume that .... +++++++++++++++++++++++ No medical Professional ( Doctor) has signed the report? If that is indeed so why?
@ Mush trolls Any record submitted in a Court of Law is given to the prosecutors as well as defense lawyers for cross-examination. Billionaire Musharraf has hired 18 lawyers to defend him in this case. It is a routine matter for all hospitals to write "Confidential" on all medical reports they submit to the Courts for legal evidence. All the documents are the property of Pakistani public whose constitution he subverted in 1999 and then in 2007. Don't forget that even the medical report of genital warts of a cricketer was also made public. The public has the legitimate right to know what is cooking by the "establishment".
@Ch. Allah Daad:
where is the apt listing?
Doctors in the UK who recieved this medical Report ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Prescribed anacin for the patient.
This is okay when one door of possible interference is closed. But what to do when state with in state has been busy mobilizing its old horses to jeopardizes the trial process. To include whole nation for trial on treason is nothing but a pathetic effort to save general from trial. Fundo politicians still believe in the supremacy of army in this country over civilian. They want to save their future at all cost. They will not be tolerated by future generations.
2 Quick Points +++++++++++ 1. Since the Pakistani tax payer is footing the bill the medical report belongs to the Public. 2. I am not a doctor but none of the ailments appear to be incapacitating the commando from presenting himself in front of the court. Of course the commando must get the best treatment available in Pakistan.
Musharraf should sue the court for releasing that confidential report. A medical report is a personal thing.
Just two observatios and recomendations 1. Medical in confidence documents are highly protected (confidential) - Court should investigate the leak. 2. All ailments listed are minor and not life threatening. What one expects to see in an aging man. - No furter management required just some bed rest at home/jail. 3. My take from above is that Military is not on same page as Mushy.
He will recover within just a few days after he flies out of Pakistan.
Mr. Mush do you think you are very clever and all other people are just stupid gags?
@Saqibtahir: I totally agree with you. I live in Canada. Then what can you expect from dysfunctional pakistani soceity. They have lost sanity after living in dark stone ages without electricity , gas, water and corrupt politicians
I cant believe that confidential medical report of an individual can be published in media like this. The document clearly says that it is confidential. This cannot happen in a civilized soceity. it is obvious that pakistan is not a civilized soceity
Lot of 70 years old men will be envious of General's blood pressure mentioned as 120/80, a perfect BP of a healthy young man, speaks volumes of his physical fitness notwithstanding the heart ailment which appears to be genuine, but not as serious requiring treatment at abroad. Medical reports are marked confidential as a routine in army and should not be confused with a secret document which is prohibited to be displayed or circulated in the general public.
To all Musharraf lovers answer these q's:
how did a ex general gather some much wealth that he has multiple properties all over the world?
why don't you bring all your supports 10,000 or so down to Islamabad court or hospital where Musharraf is? when he came back to Pakistan there were less than 50 or so supports waiting for him. if he is so popular where r is supporters?
The report is confidential. Respect his privacy, the confidentiality.
The court should not have allowed it to be published. Is the special court taking sides with the current government of monkey for the monkey and by the monkeys?
Doesn't ® stand for registered?
Wow, Musharraf’s blood pressure is 120/80mmHg. That is like that of a twenty year old. But for transient complaints, the commando is fit like one.
70 year old who smokes too much -- anybody surprised he has heart condition, enlarged prostrate etc. Nothing in this medical report would be considered "unusual" - let him pay for std by pass operation in Pakistan and put him on trial.
My doctors forgot to mention another problem in my medical report.
Problem No. 10: I frequently get my pants wet especially after treason case. But overall mai Darta warta nahi hu.
ET please publish my confession.
Regards, Sab say pehlay Pakistan AFIC Rawalpindi
This is the character of a dictator. They come in the darkness of night and are exposed in broad day light. For those who have eyes can see it.
Publishing some one's medical report, especially when classified as 'Confidential' is a criminal act in any civilized society, I condemn this highhandedness by ET and hope that some day folks in ET would learn to be a bit civilized or else be perished.
How can a broken man repair a broken country? I say, let him go for good and far away from the politics of the country.
With all his perks, privileges and treatments available free of cost; 70 years old Mush is in much better health than most Pakistanis of his age. As a physician I can tell you if his artery was really blocked they would have performed angioplasty right away. A person with a completely blocked artery would not be allowed be sent for immediate surgery. As far as the other “illnesses” are concerned most people of his age develop problems with shoulder, knee and hip joints. Hyper tension is not a common phenomenon and can be induced by pressure, exertion, exhaustion, and lack of sleep. This is clean bill of health and there is nothing that needs immediate attention or hospitalization. The fact is much younger Pakistanis including Nawaz and Zardari have gone through more severe heart episodes at a much younger age than Mush. The commando who has been paid to be a real man all his life is worse than weak politicians when it comes to running away.
It is strange to see Personal Health Information (PHI) of a patient in media. The document clearly marks it confidential. In civilized world PHI is highly protected and its leakage is a serious crime. How come a confidential information from a sealed envelop is made public by the court? I hope Musharaf's legal team will use it as a proof that this kangaroo trial is political.
Non one in Pakistan has any ethics including courts and media.
Strange: Medical records stamped "Confidential" released to the media. Had this happened in the western part of the world, the leakers would have been brought to justice.
And Musharraf was threatening to show his fists again LOL
shame on those were saying it's drama to get away from the court - if he wanted to do so why he came to Pakistan.
@aisha How can any one with an elementry common sence expect so much from a carrier military man, who has spent his life acting under orders of others and giving orders to others! The average man in the world uses only 15 % of the potential of his brain and in my opinion the military man even less than 15 % to save the use of energy and life expectancy(latest clinical studies). In other words if the brain stops working, very little energy is required to sustain life. Areal Sharon is the living proof.

@Taimur: Social contract ie the constituton is for welfare of the people. Its base particularly lie in the field of societal security and economic security. If the elected system is not delivering that, sooner or later the people in Pakistan will start clamouring for any system which could provide them security and economic prosperity. If that system happened to be the military rule, people will welcome it, irrespective of whether an earlier, military ruler had been convicted/ punished or otherwise. Democracy is not only about how to change a set of 'Rulers with another,it is primarily about welfare of the people. Also,'Rulers',coming through rigged elections are as much unconstitutional as those coming through Martial Law.People accept those who delivers which is referred to as,'Legitimacy' to govern.
@Ch. Allah Daad: keep spreading the lies, you will need to answer on the judgment day.
Musharraf is a brave man. These fake cases by fake politicians and by fake judges cannot harm a person who has now become voice of the poor people of Pakistan.
Musharaf has enlisted his London flat for sale. The asking price is more than 50 crores. His wife has already sold one flat for undisclosed price. The farm house he lives in is also worth crores. He has millions of pounds in his bank accounts and still he is called an honest person. Shame.
It is surprising though. Our politicians are unwell before they assume power. Once in power they somehow miraculously recover... only to fall sick if they encounter a legal challenge.
@ pk1 Those who think that Musharraf gave prosperity to Pakistan are living in fool's paradise. The economy ballooned because of heavy inflow of US$$$ because Pakistan was made front line state in the war on terror, that has swallowed more than 40,000 Pakistanis todate and still increasing! The energy crisis is also a special gift from Musharraf when he deliberately allowed energy problem to aggravate so as to make justification for LNG Quota (since 2003) and Rental Power Plants (since 2006).
Did i not say that pakistani doctors are excellent. How come a medical report which is supposed to be confidential is made public?. It is a tribute to the former President that he has consented to it's release---if not the newspaper has a lot of explaining to do! Those who do not understand cardiology the conclusion is clear the man is sick and needs further invasive investigations. The main diagnosis is serious Coronary Artery Disease----the other problems are secondary. By all means appoint a medical board to have a second opinion but meanwhile call the wolves off. Never kick a man when he is down.
@Anoni: The question should be: which of the lawyers sold it?
I guess ET doesn't know the meaning of "CONFIDENTIAL" ??!!!
What do the medical experts of the military hospital re commend in their report for this broken man? To be given a chance to live in his palatial hide out or to be sent in exile, cancelling his citizenship of the adopted country? The medical procedures for treating the reported conditions are straight forward and none are life threatning in modern times and should be undertaken without further delay.
Rex Minor
musharraf is biggest corrupt man. he is a biggest liar of country. he gave us nothing but just loadshedding and terrorrism. he had not develop country even an inch of it. what is his contribution in terms of education and creating jobs...what he had done for industry and growth?????? what he had done to defend pakistan. it is duty of army to kill all the taliban but he asked US for drone attacks......what a defence mr. munir
IF it's confidential .. Why leak ?
@Taimur: Brother when choosing given an option if it concerns giving prosperity to my countrymen then definitely it isnt this despotic feudal democracy!
They are monitoring all these conditions in a cardiac hospital? Despite complicated names, my feeling is that all these conditions are consistent with and normal for an average 70 year old.
Its amazing that people can jump to conclusions. Politicians and tv anchors with vested interests were sarcastically declaring that he was faking!
If that was so confidential report, the guy who gave this report to media should be punished as he has done some serious crime.
@Faraz: Then the trial should start from 12th OCT 1999 and every one who aid it should be trialed
i read the comments and wonder how stupid you all are.
The man who was a hospital?
A day as a lion is better than a 100 years as a jackal. So Bugti fills the Tipu Sultan slot, while Musharraf fills the Nawaz slot. I'm talking man-wise, and not politics-wise.
Love you Pervaiz Mushraf May Allah give you health and life to make all these people "Shutup" the way you have doing it for long...we are sorry for demanding "Damocracy" in form of these politicians...Sab Say Phele Pakistan
Anyone who still doubts the truth of the matter should have the moral courage now to pray that all these ailments should also visit them so that they would know if they are still in a shape to stand in a Kangaroo Court which is committed to humiliate Musharraf and has the verdict guilty ready as provided by NS and Cyclop Chaudhry
The conditions in which Musharraf finds himself are quite normal in a seventy-year old and there is nothing to panic about it. Pak doctors can handle all these conditions quite competently.
Solute to General's devotions for the country. Get well soon Sir! ALLAH will help you
Now the stage is set for the court to give its "historic" judgement........."Pervez Musharraf needs treatment abroad. No need to come back."
Slowly but surely air is leaking from the balloon with Musharraf emerging as vindicated for his decisions to defend Pakistan. His only crime is that he is against lootocracy. The comments coming against Musharraf are from people who support corruption.
@Faraz: Musharraf has not violated the constitution. As ex COAS it was his duty to defend the country from Internal threats, which he did .
This is a historic case. The outcome of this will decide whether dictatorship and military rule is going to stay or will be rooted.
@Faraz: How is it possible that nobody is actually trying to investigate or prosecute the "one" who “forbade” the plane to land in which General Musharraf was in coming back from Sri Lanka tour in 1999? Keeping in view the fuel left - that would have killed him ??!!
This was all before the martial law/emergency was imposed !!?
@Junior: if you really think that Musharraf's popularity is "growing" than you need to see a psychiatrist.
@Junior: .........and Musharraf listened to people like you. That certainly does not say much for Musharraf.
Mushraf has violated the constitution of Pakistan twice. The decision should be taken in accordance with law. First time in the history of Pakistan the article six proceedings have been initiated against the military dictator. Those who have been talking about the Insaf (Tehreek Insaaf) are silence on this occasion.
Finally, the medical report duly approved by the former COAS has been submitted to the court. Keeping in view of the silent support of the military to its former General, will the court take the second opinion by appointing an independent medical team consisting of eminent cardiologists from Pakistan ?
@Junior;it is guys like you who got the Senior in trouble.
Get well soon Sir Musharraf.
I do not know what will be the outcome of this fake trail, but Musharraf's is popularity is increasing with every passing day. With Musharraf's support is building up and NS and company will soon start packing up.
