ISLAMABAD:


A woman and a child were injured in a gas stove explosion on Saturday, the police said.


According to police, the blast occurred at a house in Dhoke Abbas in Tarnol.

The injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where they were treated for minor injuries.

Tarnol police officials said the family reported to the police that the woman was cooking breakfast when gas loadshedding began. The woman forgot to turn off the stove, and when the supply resumed, gas from the stove filled the kitchen, according to the police.

The blast occurred when the woman returned to the kitchen in the afternoon and tried to light the stove again, the police said, adding that there was no indication to suggest the incident could have been an act of domestic violence.

Both victims suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital, the police added.
