Chief of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, said a trust should be established to rehabilitate internally displaced persons (IDPs) and rebuild their damaged homes in the province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). Addressing people at the Jalozai refugee camp in Nowshera on Sunday, Sherpao said his party will do whatever it can to help resettle the IDPs. “We will raise this issue at national and international forums,” he said. Criticising the present government for ignoring the plight of the displaced, he urged officials to provide basic civic facilities to the IDPs as they were living under squalid conditions. He added the problems being faced by K-P’s people had compounded due to the incompetence of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government. “The PTI has failed because it has been unable to honour the pledges it made to people before the elections.”
