Govt backs digital push to revive Sindhi among youth
.

The Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah has said the government is going to support the digital platforms to reconnect the youth of Sindh with their mother language. Speaking at a conference titled 'technology for multilingual learning', organised at Sindhi Language Authority in Hyderabad on Saturday, Shah said the technology has made it easier to learn multiple languages including the mother tongue simultaneously.
"Online education has made language learning easier and more effective." He told that cultural exchange programmes have been initiated with many countries and Sindhi language has been made a part of such programmes. The minister underlined that the linguists should not only take efforts for the language promotion but should also work on its evolution.
Famous writer and dramatist Madad Ali Sindhi said during its thousands of years of existence, Sindh and Sindhi language survived scores of attacks and invasions but both the province and its language persisted. He emphasised that the provincial government should strictly enforce the law about teaching Sindhi language in the educational institutions. Prof Inam Shaikh said the words adopted verbatim from other languages posed a challenge to Sindhi. He pointed out that at the tertiary education level, genuine research in Sindhi has almost come to a naught.
Intellectual Jami Chandio dwelt at length over why the survival of native languages is necessary.
