The Jammu and Kashmir People’s League (JKPL) staged a protest rally here on Sunday against human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir by security forces.
The protesters marched from the Central Press Club to Gharipan Chowk chanting anti-India slogans.
While addressing the protesters, JKPL chief Mushtaq Mahmood condemned the continued house arrest of senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the seizure of Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori’s only residence.
The speakers said that the Indian forces have seized the house of Sopori in Srinagar to compel him to give up his struggle for the rights and self determination of Kashmiris.
They asked the international community to take note of the excesses being committed by Indian security forces on the Kashmiris.
They urged the international human rights watchdogs, the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Countries and the European Union to take note of Indian brutalities and enforced disappearance and killings of Kashmiris in the valley.
