FAISALABAD:

A woman was shot dead by unidentified men who broke into her house in Yaseenpura on Friday night. An FIR was registered on the complaint of her husband.

Saddar police said three men entered the house of Muhammad Fazal, manager at Muslim Commercial Bank, where they shot his wife Gulnaz Fazal, 30, when she put up resistance.

Police said the assailants fled.

Fazal told police that the men were no robbers as nothing had been missing from the house.

City Police Officer Haidar Ashraf told The Express Tribune that he speculated that the murder was triggered by a family dispute. He said Fazal had not nominated any body in the FIR.

He said initial investigations had revealed that Gulnaz was Fazal’s second wife. He said they had married without her the consent of her family. He said Gulnaz’s eight brothers had apposed their marriage. The CPO said that investigation was under way. He said family of Fazal’s first wife would also be included in the investigation.

He ordered the Saddar station house officer to complete the investigation and submit a report in a week.
