ISLAMABAD:
The government has constituted four committees to formulate an implementation plan for projects aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and restructuring.
These committees will submit their recommendations by January 2014. This was decided during the first meeting of the expert group created to oversee the development of science and technology sector in the country. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid chaired the meeting.
The meeting was briefed about research and development in the areas of emerging technologies like biotechnology, nanotechnology and hydrogen fuel cell research. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “there must be collaboration between research and development institutions and industries and universities, which would improve the quality of products and increase exports.”
Research would be made according to the requirement of the industry and market so that it could contribute instantly, he said.
