PESHAWAR:
Salaries of provincial police personnel will be increased to bring them at par with the Punjab Police while bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials will be paid an additional allowance, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a ceremony at the CM House, Khattak said the K-P police was at the forefront in combating terrorism and their services were invaluable.

Thus their demand for an increase in salaries was genuine, the CM was quoted as saying in a handout issued from the central police office.

Earlier, K-P IGP Nasir Khan Durrani said the police had lost 750 personnel in the war on terror in the past six years, and it was unfortunate that their salaries were below their counterparts in Punjab without any provision for additional allowances.

On the occasion, the CM also distributed certificates among 30 policemen whose bravery resulted in repulsing terrorist attacks at check posts and police stations, and who successfully
investigated terrorism-related cases.
