Aitebar is being implemented with assistance from the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID), a ministerial department which works towards international aid and development projects.
“Through this initiative, we believe the process to maintain law and order, in addition to providing speedy justice, will be accelerated,” said Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs department Syed Akhtar Ali Shah.
Shah chaired the project coordination committee meeting. Participants were told DIFD has been focusing particularly on setting up ‘model’ police units, complaint centres for women and a prosecution department.
Shah lauded DFID’s assistance and said it will help enhance capabilities of prosecution and investigation departments. He also assured participants of the provincial interior ministry’s support.
Besides DFID’s Senior Conflicts Adviser Helen Lewis, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police working group, and director generals for prosecution and project coordination were also in attendance.
