A man was killed and 16 others, including policemen and children, were wounded on Thursday in two separate bomb blasts in bordering Chaman area of restive Balochistan.

In the first blast – which killed a passerby and wounded 12 others – the bomb was fitted to a motorbike, which was parked outside a commercial bank. The second blast took place with a gap of 90 minutes and injured Chaman Deputy Superintend Police (DSP) Gul Mohammed Awan, Station House Officer (SHO) Saleem Shahid and two constables.

“It was a remote controlled bomb and explosive material was fitted to a motorcycle which was parked outside a private bank,” the SHO Saleem Shahid told the reporters at crime scene an hour earlier to the second blast.

Saleem himself received injuries in second blast. He said that target was the police personnel deployed outside the bank.
