LAHORE:

The Walled City has become a hub of drug addicts who use contaminated syringes to inject drugs... that is one of the major causes of AIDS, Antinarcotics Campaign consultant Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said on Sunday.

The Drug Advisory Training Hub, a project of the Youth Council for Anti Narcotics, organised a talk on HIV and Injection Drug Users, in connection with the international AIDS Day.

Hussain said Chauburji Park, Lakshmi Chowk, Queen’s Road, Data Darbar, Ali Park, Lorry Adda and Bund Road were swarmed with drug addicts but the Walled City was a major area of concern. NGOs working to control the disease must join hands to defeat the menace, he said, they can play a vital role by highlighting these issues and suggesting preventive methods.
