KARACHI: The representatives of paramedical staff organisations unanimously demanded the administration of the Civil Hospital, Karachi (CHK) to remove all encroachments inside and outside the hospital, particularly for the convenience of ambulances.

The meeting held at the CHK on Friday reviewed the numerous encroachments around the hospital, especially the parking of motorcycles outside the emergency ward.

One of the biggest healthcare service provider in Karachi, the CHK has become a hub of roadside vendors, and juice and tea stalls, and an illegal parking space for motorcyclists.

The patron-in-chief of the Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association, Akhlaq Ahmed Khan, advised the CHK administration to devise a proper strategy for removal of illegal encroachments and take strict action against those not following the administration’s instructions regarding security.

The president of the Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association’s Karachi division, Nazeer Abbasi, also asked the administration to take stern action and not allow motorcyclists and auto rickshaws to enter the hospital. The CHK additional medical superintendent, Dr Rustum, assured the paramedics that the administration would soon devise a comprehensive strategy to remove encroachments from within the limits of the hospital.
