PESHAWAR:
Peshawar High Court lawyers boycotted court proceedings in protest against the baton charge by the Islamabad police on their colleagues. Lawyers in the FATA Tribunal did not appear for various cases hearings, including that of Dr Shakil Afridi, whose review petition was fixed for hearing. Missing persons cases were also scheduled at the PHC on Wednesday. On Tuesday evening the police tear-gassed and baton charged lawyers outside the Supreme Court (SC) building in Islamabad. A large number of lawyers from Punjab had gathered outside the SC premises and were protesting in favour of forming local benches of the high court in their areas.
