Maryam Nawaz appointed chairperson of PM's Youth Programme

The youth programme will comprise of various youth training and skill development schemes.

ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of prime minister Nawaz Sharif was appointed chairperson of Prime Minister's Youth Programme on Friday.

The appointment, which is honorary, will not entitle Maryam to any kind of remuneration or fringe benefits.

As chairperson, she is expected to be charged with the responsibility of coordinating, managing, finalising and supervising implementation of the youth programme.



In a subsequent tweet she said that the aim of the programme was to create entrepreneurs.



The Youth Programme comprises of the following schemes: Prime Minister's Interest Free Loan Scheme, Prime Minister's Youth Business Loans, Prime Minister's Youth Training Scheme, Prime Minister's Youth Skills Development Scheme, Prime Minister's Scheme for Provision of Laptops and Prime Minister's Scheme for Reimbursement of Fee of Students from the Less Developed Areas.

Maryam has earlier held the position of chairperson at Sharif Trust, founded by her grandfather Muhammad Sharif, Sharif Medical City and Sharif Education Institutes.
