October 16, 2010

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sought records from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of National Insurance Company’s (NIC) former Chairman Ayaz Khan Niazi regarding purchases of land at high price in Dubai, Lahore and Korangi Deh Phihai.

A three member committee of the FIA collected the data while seeking records from the anti-corruption and revenue departments of Punjab.

The FIA alleges that the former chairman of NIC purchased land on highly raised rates causing more than a billion rupees in loss to the national exchequer.

The FIA earlier put the names of nine other persons in exit control list (ECL) but so far none of them have been arrested.
