An ever watchful eye?: K-P to launch Peshawar Safe City Project

PESHAWAR: The provincial government plans to initiate the Peshawar Safe City Project – a sophisticated security system of international standards to protect the capital.

Senior Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government officials were given a presentation by a private company Motorola in the city on Wednesday.

Under the project, state-of-the-art information technology, sensitive CCTV cameras, cellular and wireless technology, GPS, electronic maps and FM radios will be used to safeguard life and property.



Representatives of the mobile communications company gave a detailed briefing on various aspects of the proposed project. It was decided technical experts of Motorola and police authorities would conduct a study and draft a comprehensive report on security requirements and the budget necessary to implement the scheme.

Chief Secretary Muhammad Shahzad Arbab presided over the presentation. Those in attendance included provincial ministers Shah Farman, Shaukat Yousafzai and Shahram Tarkai, advisor to chief minister Rafaqatullah Babar, IGP Nasir Durrani, Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez, Secretary Home Akhtar Ali Shah, among others.
