ISLAMABAD:

The city managers have been busy of late with the upcoming land auction in the capital next week.

Marathon meetings of Capital Development Authority high ups with investors and business communities from various cities and massive media campaigns have been taking place to lure financiers and to make the venture a success.

“The auction of commercial plots and consequent spending of the earned money on different ongoing and new projects will mark the beginning of a new era of development,” CDA Chairman Nadeem Hasan Asif said while addressing a delegation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPK-CCI) at CDA headquarters.

This is the first time that CDA is working in a systematic manner to inform and attract investors for the capital’s commercial land market.

A number of CDA officials have visited the provincial capitals of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan during the last few weeks to meet representatives of various business communities and inform them of the lucrative commercial plots on offer during the auction scheduled for November 18, 19 and 20.

CDA Planning and Design Member Waseem Ahmed recently visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry while Environment Member Ahsan Ali Mangi visited the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Finance Member Arbab Sher visited the Azad Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On Wednesday, a delegation of KPK-CCI led by former Senator Salim Saifullah Khan also visited CDA headquarters.

The visiting delegation was informed that the CDA will be presenting 56 commercial plots during the three-day land auction.

“The conditions for auction of commercial plots are very conducive for the business community,” the chairman had said while addressing the delegation.

On the same day, a delegation of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) also called on the chairman, who sought proposals from ABAD representatives about low-cost housing schemes in Islamabad.

The authority estimates that it will earn over Rs20 billion from the auction.
