@Aysha M: There are times, like this one, when you are way ahead of the rest.......great comment.
As a former Grammarian....I'm ashamed of these coconut producing institutures....two colonial era brown sahab making schools all proud of being in the finals of a competition held in a language imposed on our motherland by a foreign occupier who destroyed our identity and heritage and created and left these brown sahab producing institutions behind who still do the work of the Mountbattons and the Napiers and Freres long after they have gone. Allama Iqbal would be rolling in his grave. The difference between Cambridge and Oxford debating championships and KGS Aitchison debating championships is that one is proud of their own language while the other is proud of someone elses! Wake up Pakistan ! Yeah and I could write all this in Urdu but it wont be read by you all then would it :)
My old KGS is the best school in Pakistan. Congratulations!
As a former Grammarian, let me know how much ET got paid to put this as a news item!
Brilliant. Lovely to see KGS carrying on their fine tradition of debating excellence.
Karachi, all the way
@NM: Well, it deserves much more to be highlighted in the news than politicians squabbling amongst themselves. After all, it is the biggest debating championship in Pakistan and arguably the most prestigious parliamentary debate championship. Most national newspapers around the world would definitely highlight a competition of this calibre, or example the school team that wins Cambridge Schools debating championship in the UK gets feature pieces, whereas often, we gloss over great events happening in our country which are actually extremely relevant. To have won this, is a massive feat and kudos to both teams for making it to the finals.
This article is really badly written... or for that matter edited.
Great work KGS......looks like we still have the mojo. Why did the topics all have to centre around politics / war.......there is a lot more in the world worth debating about.
Great job KGS, good to see they have maintained their standards.
As a former Grammarian, I'm sure it's lovely KGS won this, but how on Earth does this deserve to be in the News Alert ticker?!
