HANGU/PARACHINAR:

Tribes decided to observe Muharram peacefully and with reverence in Kurram Agency. This was announced at a jirga at the Political Agent House in Parachinar on Saturday.

Elders from various tribes, and civil and security officials participated in the meeting held to discuss security arrangements for Muharram processions and maintaining peace in the region during the sacred days.

Kurram Agency Political Agent Riaz Mehsud told the jirga all possible security arrangements have been made for Muharram. Frontier Corps IG Major General Ghayoor Mehmood also visited Parachinar to monitor measures taken, shared Mehsud.

According to Colonel Maqbool Ahmad and Commandant Kurram Militia, foolproof arrangements have been made in the area. Other civil and security officials also addressed the tribesmen, instructing them to remain calm and establish religious harmony.

Local elders maintained they would observe religious days peacefully as they have done in the past.
