ISLAMABAD: Senior politician and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Enver Baig officially took charge as the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) chairman on Friday. The newly appointed chairman pledged to uplift the living standards of millions of poor Pakistanis irrespective of their party affiliation. “Our basic aim is to reach out to poor families—train them, financially support them—so that they can stand on their own feet,” he said. The government will convince international donors and the business community to donate more funds for the programme, which has also earned international repute, he told The Express Tribune.
