FAISALABAD:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Friday took suo motu notice of a child’s gang rape reported on September 20.

The chief justice ordered District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Khaleequz Zaman to direct the police to submit a report in a week. The CJ asked the judge to ensure that the report contained information on action taken by the police on the incident and progress.

The four-year-old boy, a student at Dar-i-Arqam School in Gulshan Colony near Nagina Chowk Saddar Bazaar was raped allegedly by his school principal Muneer Ahmad and a watchman, Muhammad Shafi- both of whom were arrested a few days after the incident was reported.

The child’s father had said that the suspects had locked his son in a room and raped him.

They had also beaten the child when he started crying. They then left the child in a bad condition and fled. He said when he went to pick him, he discovered that his son was lying unconscious in a room. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had been raped. He said the police had registered a case only after the family and parents of some of the children in the school staged a protest demonstration against the principal. He said the principal and the watchman were then arrested. Investigation Officer Arif Irfan told The Express Tribune that investigation was ongoing. He said the police were waiting for the medico-legal examination report.

I can see many parallels b/w our people and whatever the heck I saw on Television, which, at the time, I assumed were exaggerated depictions of Barbarians.

This disgusting crime is becoming a part of daily news. Its time our police force is totally revamped. The entire police performing the duties of personal guards of our elite, should be withdrawn from them and tasked to their original duties for protecting the citizens. The criminals should be given summary trials and hanged in public. The silence of our 'political mullahs' on these crimes is pathetic, to say the least.
