1st Test: Rohit Sharma smashes ton on debut
Batsman scores 127 as India take 120-run lead against West Indies on day two.
Rohit Sharma hit an impressive century on debut to help India recover from a top-order collapse and put them in the driver’s seat in the first Test against the West Indies, with a 120-run first-innings lead yesterday.
Sharma was in prime form during his 127-run innings, which saw India come back into the match after their top order was dismantled cheaply, according to the Times of India.
He was ably supported by Ravichandran Ashwin, who was unbeaten at 92, as the duo helped India sail from a precarious position at 83 for five at one stage to a comfortable 354 for six at close in the second day’s play.
The tourists posted 234 all out in the first innings.
