Sacked wardens: ACE officer fails to show for hearing
LHC issues show cause notice to ACE investigation officer for failing to produce record regarding 70 sacked wardens.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to an Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) investigation officer for failing to produce the record regarding 70 sacked traffic wardens. Justice Anwarul Haq passed these orders on petitions moved by the wardens challenging their terminations. The wardens had been removed because of alleged irregularities in their documents. At the onset of the hearing, the petitioners’ counsel said that the chief traffic officer (CTO) had sacked them illegally and the ACE proceedings were also illegal. He said that the educational certificates and other documents the wardens had submitted at the time of their recruitment were genuine. The court had summoned ACE Investigation Officer Ghulam Rasool to the hearing, but he didn’t appear before the court. The court issued a show cause notice to him and directed him to submit a reply within one week.
