BAHAWALPUR:

A woman filed a complaint on Tuesday against two men for allegedly ripping her clothes off and beating her in public.

Police said the suspects had denied the allegations and said that the woman had implicated them wrongfully to cover the fact that her son had eloped with their sister a few days ago.

The woman told police that the suspects had suspected that her son was having an affair with their sister. She said on Tuesday they caught her on the street near her house in Basti Hamza Nonari in Ahmadpur East.

She said she tried to run away but they tore her clothes off and dragged her. She alleged that they also tried to rape her, but fled when she started to shout for help.

She said her son had not had an affair with their sister. She said they had accused her son of taking her away, but she was not aware of her whereabouts.

Dhoorkot Station House Officer Hamid Shah said the area was visited after the incident was reported. He said the suspects had told him that the woman had implicated them in a false case and that they had neither attacked her nor tried to rape her.

The SHO said both parties had been summoned to the police station. He said the woman’s son was missing and she said she did not know where he was.

The station house officer said the woman did not have any evidence against the suspects. He said police were investigating the matter.

Both parties had been told not to leave the village.
