ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court on Friday issued a contempt notice to Najam Sethi, former acting chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), for defying a court order and continuing to perform his duties.

Earlier, on October 29, the same bench had suspended the Interim Management Committee and restrained Sethi from acting as head of the board.

“Sethi is still performing his duties, deliberately and intentionally violating the order passed,” stated Advocate Abdul Razzak Rajab, Nawaz’s counsel.

Rajab claimed that Sethi used contemptuous language against an IHC judge during a talk show of a private TV channel, said that the two-member bench had accepted his appeal, and claimed on micro-blogging website Twitter that he is still chairman of the PCB.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui dispensed the contempt notice which will stay in place until the date for the next hearing is fixed by the registrar’s office.
