Muharram: CDA to facilitate mourners

Directs uninterrupted illumination of processions’ routes.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will cooperate with the Islamabad Capital Territory administration to facilitate Muharram processions.


This was stated at a meeting regarding Muharram arrangements by CDA Chairman Nadeem Hassan Asif who assured the district administration that the civic agency would utilise all resources to facilitate mourners.

Asif directed officials to ensure streetlights are on at all processions’ routes and outside all imambargahas. He also directed uninterrupted supply of electricity by installing standby generators.

It was decided in the meeting that ambulances and fire vehicles will also be made available at various routes.

Holidays of employees of streetlights division, sanitation staff and water supply division have been cancelled to ensure uninterrupted services, he informed. Similarly, the CDA’s Capital Hospital will be put on high alert to deal with any medical emergencies.

The CDA chairman also directed officials to set up a control room at the CDA headquarters to work round the clock with the city administration.

CDA Member Engineering Sanaullah Aman was nominated as the focal person by CDA to liaison with the district administration.
