KARACHI:
KPT redeemed their identity of being the country’s oldest club as they defeated Baloch FC 7-0 in the Pakistan Premier Football League yesterday.

KPT scored the highest number of goals in the season in a match at their home ground, and also replaced Muslim FC on second place with 21 points.

Manager Shah Naeem said the team’s performance in the match was encouraging and he hopes the players would continue with their form in the remaining 16 matches of the season.

“It’s great to have my team score the highest number of goals in the league and I can only thank Allah for that,” Naeem told The Express Tribune. “The team was not doing well earlier; 14 of my footballers were released from their contracts this year by the department, so that had been a huge factor for weak performances in the beginning. But now the team is coming together.”

Naeem said that the addition of new players is also working well for the club.

KPT’s Muhammad Khan scored a hat-trick, with his first goal in the 19th minute, doubling it in the 30th minute and scored the final in the 90th minute.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Arslan, who was a reserve player in the team, came into the field as Shakir Taj’s replacement in the second-half. He scored twice in the 75th and 79th minute. Taj and Muhammad Waseem scored one goal each.

KESC continue winning streak

In another match, KESC continued with their winning streak as they defeated ZTBL 2-0 at the KMC stadium.

Muhammad Rasool scored in the 14th minute while Muhammad Riaz sealed the victory in the 59th minute. KESC lead the league with 31 points after playing 13 matches.

Meanwhile, PIA also crushed Lyallpur FC 4-1 at the Korangi Baloch Stadium to take fourth position in the league with 20 points.

Lyallpur FC’s Rehan Munir scored in the sixth minute on a penalty-kick. However, PIA’s Shakir Lashari scored twice as Nasarullah and Muhammad Zeeshan also contributed with their goals to seal the sixth win for their club.
