Two boys were kidnapped in two incidents on Monday.
Police Spokesman Ameer Nasir Javaid told the media on Wednesday that a 16-year-old student of grade 9 was on his way home from school when he was kidnapped. He is the nephew of Samundri Additional Sessions Judge Iqbal Ahmad Goraya. Police have registered a case and taken two men, Ashraf and Imtiaz, into custody for interrogation.
The Faisalabad District Bar Association on Wednesday observed a strike against the boy’s abduction and the lawyers did not appear in courts.
The police spokesman said some masked men had kidnapped a nine-year-old son of Dr Nasir of the Divisional Headquarters Hospital, when he was dropped at his school on Canal Road by his driver Ghulam Bari on Monday.
Javaid said the driver said he had tried to the stop the kidnappers. He said they hit him with a pistol and took the child away, he said.
The kidnappers, later, called the family and demanded Rs5 million as ransom.
Javaid said they were investigating the case but did not have a lead as yet.
The Pakistan Medical Association on Wednesday announced that it would observe Friday as a black day if Dr Nasir’s son was not recovered immediately. PMA office bearers Dr Abdus Sattar, Dr Ahmad Shah Khagga, Dr Taufail Muhammad and Dr Muhammad Irfan said: Our children are being abducted in broad daylight and the police are clueless.
They said the police should recover the boy immediately or they would stage a protest against the failure of the law enforcement agencies in providing security to citizens.
