KARACHI:

The former joint unit-incharge of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Burnes Road sector, Dilshad Ahmed Khan, was laid to rest in Azizabad graveyard on Monday.

He was picked up by Rangers on October 23. Later, he was handed over to the family and died at a hospital due to critical injuries. His funeral prayers were offered at Pakistan Chowk’s Dakhni Mosque.

The funeral and burial ceremony was attended by family, friends and members of the MQM’s central coordination committee.

Talking to the media after the burial ceremony, coordination committee member Syed Aminul Haque said MQM leader Altaf Hussain supported the sincere and impartial targeted operation for the restoration of law and order situation in the city but the same operation was deliberately turned against the MQM.

He claimed that an MQM worker, Ajmal Baig, was also executed in an extrajudicial fashion by the Rangers earlier.

Haque said that MQM workers were even arrested on the eve of Eidul Azha, adding that it was a planned conspiracy against the party which is being targeted under the guise of the operation.
