Crime round-up: Former army official among four killed

KARACHI:
A political worker was among the four people killed in separate acts of violence on Monday.

A worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead in Orangi Town. Asif, 28, was shot multiple times and died at the spot. Police officials said that the deceased used to sell ‘Irani’ petrol in the area and was standing by his pushcart when he was killed.

Separately, a volunteer at a private welfare organisation, Nazeer Hussain, 45, was shot dead inside his office at Ahsanabad. The deceased was a retired personnel of the Pakistan Army and was running an NGO by the name of Saraiki Health Association, DSP Khalid Khan told The Express Tribune.

In another incident, the body of a young man was found from Pir Buksh Goth. Separately, the body of a young man was found from National Highway.


Meanwhile, the Rangers claimed to have apprehended 39 alleged criminals. According to the Rangers spokesperson, the criminals include Lyari gangsters and criminals affiliated with political groups.

Separately, the Special Investigation Unit’s police claimed to have apprehended at least five suspects, allegedly involved in targeted killing and extortion cases. In another raid, an alleged gangster, Shahjahan alias Baba, was arrested from Malir City.

Meanwhile, a political worker, Syed Abid, was arrested by the Rangers from North Nazimabad. According to sources, the accused was taken into custody over his alleged involvement in cases of targeted killings.
