Muharram security: 167 procession routes, gatherings declared sensitive in Faisalabad

There will be 4,935 gatherings and processions in the division.

FAISALABAD: As many as 167 gatherings and procession routes in Faisalabad have been declared most sensitive by the district police, police spokesman Ameer Nasir Javaid said on Sunday.

There will be 4,935 gatherings and processions in the division from the 7th to the 10th of Muharram.

Javaid said the Police Department as well as other law enforcement agencies had been directed to ensure that there were no lapses in security arrangements.



The police spokesman said that 308 close circuit television cameras would be installed at important points in the district.

He said 1,000 metal detectors would be provided to security personnel. Walkthrough gates would also be installed at all entry points at gatherings and processions.

Javaid said mobile jammers would be installed at sensitive points.

District breakup

As many as 496 processions and 393 gatherings would be organised in Faisalabad. Police have declared 73 points as sensitive.

Ten walk through gates, 206 CCTV cameras, 644 metal detectors and two mobile phone jammers would be installed in the city.

In Jhang, the police spokesman said, 268 processions and 1,864 gatherings would be organised. 45 points have been declared sensitive. Five walk through gates, 66 metal detectors, 90 CCTV cameras and one jammer would be installed in the city.

In Toba Tek Singh, 352 processions and 613 gatherings would be held. Of these, 25 processions and gatherings have been declared sensitive. Two walk through gates, 145 metal detectors and four mobile phone jammers would be installed.

As many as 301 processions and 648 gatherings would be held in Chiniot. 24 points have been declared sensitive.

Four walk through gates, 150 metal detectors, 12 CCTV cameras and two jammers would be installed in the city.
