The police department has started a series of lectures in order to train their investigation officers and allow them to take on more responsibility during investigations.
This initiative is being taken on the directives of Sindh IGP Shahid Baloch, according to a police statement on Friday. The lecture was held on Friday at the Central Police Office and was delivered by former chief justice of Pakistan, Justice Rana Bhagwandas. The former chief justice argued that police officers need to improve public perception as well as police-civilian relationship by working with sincerity.
Bhagwandas also called for improvement of the police investigation department by providing more training.
He claimed that with hard-to-investigate crimes, such as target killings, becoming increasingly common in the city, it is vital that police officers are well-trained and well-equipped.
He urged that officers should have knowledge of relevant laws to carry out investigations in an efficient manner. Bhagwandas also emphasised the importance of using cutting edge technology and forensic science.
