“I specifically pressed the Prime Minister to release Dr Shakil Afridi and encouraged him to ensure that his nation is in fact a responsible and effective partner in countering terrorism, proliferation and violent extremism in the region,” said Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ed Royce.
Royce was accompanied by ranking members of the Committee from both sides of the aisle, while Nawaz was accompanied by Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Royce said that the variety of issues critical to US national security came under discussion during the meeting. However, the Congressman remarked that a strong relationship between Pakistan and United States was critical to achieve shared objectives.
Nawaz maintained that both countries had cooperated closely at important junctures of history and a strong Pakistan-US bilateral relationship was important for peace and stability in the region.
The premier also raised Pakistan’s concerns on the continuation of drone strikes at the meeting.

I think the best course of action is to exchange NATO (and Americans included) prisoners in Afghanistan in exchange for Dr AFFia - Dr Shakil is a different matter since he was convicted of endangering national security and traitors can only face the gallows Mr Nawaz and so called Sr-taj should understand diplomacy - they both don't since they are both the product of old dictatorial school of thought. A Western educated Pakistani need to be brought in take the helm of foreign affairs.
@a&a: yea ure right ...! thats why im thinking about handing u to the U.S..! we should swap u for Afia..!
@Syed A. Mateen:
I wonder If any of our Prime Minister has even the courage to just ask/request the release of Dr. Aafia Siddique
The slave and beggar will agree to everything yet return home claiming victory.
@Syed A. Mateen:
LOL - Siddiqui would never be released to Pakistan or any other country - however, she might have her sentence reduced by an appeals court. Further - the elephant in the room that Pakistani's can't see is that Aafia hates Pakistan as much as she does the USA - might prefer USA jail vs returning to Pakistan.
For heavans sake, say No to any more demands from the Wolf; separation is the answer, take the money what the Yanks owe Pakistan for the services renered and leave before they come up with a catalogue of tems which you cannot deliver. Follow the golden rule, in diplomacy, " Do not criticise American homo marriage act and let America not criticise Pakistan domestic affairs. Period. You will be lucky if he receives you in the white House as compare to the Indian primo his delegytio who were kept in the open.
