KARACHI: The winner of a gold medal for the 100-metre flat race at the last Asian Games, Nasim Hamid, will now be teaching sports to the students of the Educators Darus Salam school in Korangi.

As a resident of Korangi herself, and someone who has grown up in the area not far from the Educators Darus Salam school campus, Nasim has great plans for its 1,600 students.

She brought glory to Pakistan by sprinting to victory and winning a gold medal in a sport unfamiliar to most girls in the country. The sports icon visited the school recently as a chief guest on the annual sports day where she was greeted by a mob of students of the Darus Salam School’s senior campus in Lucknow Society, Korangi.

The charming Nasim will not only be teaching the finer points of racing and other athletics and sports to her students, but she will also be giving them tips on fitness. “Keeping your muscles and lungs in good condition is very important not only for sports, but for one’s health in the long term,” she stressed during her visit.
