Town cleanliness: Residents disappointed by TMA

A TMA official said that the Colony was on the administration’s list.

SIALKOT:
A week after Eid, the tehsil municipal administration in Sialkot’s Allama Iqbal Labour Colony has yet to remove offal from the roadsides.  The Labour Colony is home to more than 500 families. Residents said that many of them had filed complaints at the town administrator’s office seeking orders for removal of animal entrails and cleanliness of the entire town. Residents said the stench had spread in the area and was very disturbing. They alleged that TMA had preferred cleaning posh areas of the city and had left poor areas “on their own”. They said neither TMA officials nor the DCO had visited the area after Eid, although they had visited several areas of the city to monitor cleanliness.  A TMA official said that the Colony was on the administration’s list. He said areas had been divided on the basis of their population. Larger colonies were being cleaned first, he said.
