Two counts: Kidnappers jailed for life

The kidnappers took Rs3 million from Shahzad’s family but did not release him.

BAHAWALPUR: Anti Terrorism Court Judge Nisar Ahmad on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment on two counts to four men found guilty of kidnapping for ransom. The judge also directed the police to confiscate their properties. Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Aslam Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Sajid and Muhammad Ali had kidnapped Hafiz Ghulam Qadir’s grandson, Muhammad Naveed Shahzad. The kidnappers took Rs3 million from Shahzad’s family but did not release him. Shahzad was later recovered when cantonment police raided a house in Bindra village and arrested the kidnappers. The judge also ordered the police to arrest their accomplices, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Shafiq, and produce them before the court.
