
Two men, arrested in connection with the murder of an employee of ARY News channel, were remanded to police custody till October 19 by a district and sessions court on Tuesday.
The deceased driver was reportedly beaten to death over a petty issue in Sohrab Goth on Monday. A judicial magistrate in district Malir remanded the suspects - a driver of Starline Coach, Amal Khan, and a clerk at the bus stand, Nisar Khan - to police custody after they were produced in court.
According to the police, the deceased, Gul Sher Khan, got into a quarrel with the suspects near the Sohrab Goth cattle market while he was plying his truck on Super Highway on October 14. Following the fight, the bus driver called his companions and they beat up Khan with iron rods. The suspects left him severely injured and drove his truck to their office. The onlookers rushed to help and took him to a private hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
A case, No. 697/13, under section 396 (dacoity with murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered against the suspects at Sohrab Goth police station.
