Driver of ARY news channel beaten to death

ARY News employee was beaten up by bus drivers over a petty issue on Super Highway.

"We have arrested the main accused, Aimal Khan, during a raid at Starline coach office," the police said.

KARACHI: An employee of ARY News channel was beaten to death, using iron rods, over a petty issue at Sohrab Goth area, on Monday.

Sohrab Goth police official told The Express Tribune that the driver, Gul Sher Khan, was plying his truck on Super Highway near the cattle market when he got into a quarrel with a driver of an intercity bus service,  Starline Coach.

Following the fight, the bus driver called his companions and they all beat him up with iron rods.



The culprits left him injured and drove away his truck to their office. Onlookers rushed to help and took him to a private hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

"We have arrested the main accused, Aimal Khan, during a raid at Starline coach office," the police said.

ARY News channel's employee Shabi Hassan said the victim was a resident of Surjani Town and had been a long time employee. He had nine children, he added.

Cousins killing

In another instance, two cousins were killed over a property dispute in Nazimabad within Paposh Nagar police Chowki limits. The police said the incident occurred at Lal Mosque, where the relatives of the victims had opened indiscriminate firing on them.

Mehtab Ali, 21, and Arib, 18, were killed in the firing.

Meanwhile, Adil, Mateen, Izhar and Sajjad were critically injured in the incident. They were shifted to hospital for treatment.

The police on a patrolling duty immediately reached the spot and arrested three accused, Haji Maroof, Tanweer and Farhan while another culprit managed to flee from the scene.

The police further said the deceased persons belonged to the Orangi Town. The accused were their relatives and the police said it was a property dispute.
