SUKKUR:

An armed clash between groups of Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) leader, Haji Altaf Unnar, and his nephew killed a man and injured three others in Keti Behleem in Khairpur on Saturday.

The incident happened when one group was busy working in the katcha area, while armed men from the other group asked them to stop working on the land.

An intense argument between the two groups turned into an exchange of fire, which resultantly injured four people, namely Arbab Ali Behleem, Allah Dino Unnar, Talib Ali Unnar and Najaf Ali Unnar.

The police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to the Chandka Hospital in Larkana, where Arbab Ali Behleem succumbed to his injuries.

Sources privy to the matter claimed that MPA Haji Altaf Unnar and his nephew Dado Allah Bux Unnar were daggers drawn over a piece of katcha land in Keti Behleem. Minor clashes between their men often happen, they added.

Confirming the incident, SHO Mehboob Kalhoro Ghulam Asghar Dahar told The Express Tribune that Haji Altaf and his nephew have been fighting over the piece of land for over three years. According to him, as the water receded in the river, one group was preparing the land for cultivation, when another interfered and an armed clash took place. He said no case was registered since all the men escaped from the scene.

Haji Altaf and his nephew Dado Allah Bux were not available for their comments, however, Altaf 's  son Adil Unnar told The Express Tribune that they do not have any land dispute with Dado Allah Bux. He alleged that Dado Allah Bux's men have attacked some men in the katcha area.

He said they were living in Karachi and had nothing do with the land dispute.
