New Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and CT scan machines will be installed next month in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), according to the hospital's radiology department in-charge, Prof. Tariq Mehmood, on Saturday.
Through the new CT scan machine, JPMC would become the first healthcare institution in the country where three machines would facilitate patients at the same time, he said.
He added that the machines were being brought in under a public-private partnership and thousands of poor patients would benefit from this free-of-cost facility.
According to him, private hospital charge Rs5,000 to Rs20,000 for MRI tests while CT scans cost Rs5,000 to Rs15,000 in the city. With the inclusion of the new machines in the hospital, thousands of patients visiting the OPD and under-treatment patients would be able to avail the services at lower prices as compared to the heavy fee charged by private hospitals, he said.
