KARACHI:

Nearly 200 more buses and government-owned CNG pumps will be brought to Karachi, if the Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah's recent directives bear fruit.

Shah has told members of the public-private partnership board on Friday to plan at least 200 buses on different routes.

After the meeting, the participants approved a scheme to re-launch the CNG Green Bus and Diesel Bus project. Under this project, 73 CNG buses and 55 diesel buses would be repaired with Rs40 million and will be handed over to a private party, which bids the lowest fare without government subsidy.

Meanwhile, the government will seek the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's permission to set up separate CNG pumps to supply fuel to these buses on six days of the week. The CM directed officials to complete these projects by the end of this financial year.
